SCA Roasting Coffee Module Foundations
Every roaster started somewhere. This is that somewhere.
Roasting Foundations is a 4-hour online course for beginners and hobbyists who want to understand what roasting actually involves before committing time, money, or equipment to it. You’ll cover the full roast cycle, learn how heat transforms green coffee, and start connecting roasting decisions to what ends up in the cup. Light roast or dark, fast or slow, you’ll understand the why behind the choices.
The course runs in two parts. The first you complete on your own schedule through our online platform. The second is a live session over Google Meet, where we go deeper into the material and you can ask anything.
By the end, you’ll know whether roasting is the direction you want to go, and if it is, you’ll have a real foundation to build on.
The course includes the SCA Foundations Roasting exam. Pass it, earn an internationally recognized certificate and credits toward one of the SCA Coffee Skills Diplomas.
